Pam Johnston – Chief Operating Officer
Pam Johnston – the "captain of this here ship" rides at the helm of recycler.com and brings 20-plus years of executive leadership in Internet, High Tech, and Telecom Industries, from start-up to established, in countries all over the globe. Though her warm smile is anything but a cracking whip, she runs a tight ship. Pam was formerly the COO of Yahoo! Search Marketing International; head of Yahoo! International Emerging Markets; and CFO of Yahoo! International Markets.
With an undergrad degree in Oboe Performance (that’s music, by the way) from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and an MBA from Harvard Business School (we don’t hold it against her), Pam – who once tried to sell a set of four solid monkey pod Thai elephant chairs, too "majestic" to fit inside any ordinary person’s home, by way of online classifieds – understands the current need for a better way to do classifieds.
Though unable to let those chairs go (they slumber in storage), she is excited about the ability recycler has to impact people’s lives in a good way. "Like no other online service, recycler.com is a safe, simple and fun marketplace that connects people from all walks of life, in communities across America, to sell used stuff to those who can make better use of it."
Having trained to be principle oboist in a major symphony orchestra and aiming for concert pianist in her next life, Pam has the leadership, experience, culture and passion to lead recycler’s ascent to a leading online classifieds site. She lives with her husband, cat and dog in Los Angeles, where on weekends she cooks up a storm.
Josh Siegel – VP of Product Management
Josh Siegel leads the recycler team with more than 15 years of product, business, and operations leadership roles in Internet and High Tech industries. When the Internet was still on training wheels, Josh, an avid cyclist, was poppin’ wheelies – managing hugely successful product launches. Josh was formerly the Senior Director of Monetization for Veoh Networks. Before that, he launched and then inevitably headed the Yahoo! Publisher Network and had previously managed product and marketing for Everdream, a SaaS for IT management now owned by Dell Corporation. From Ads to SaaS, Josh has led growth for key industry leading Internet platforms.
Needless to say, going from cycling to recycling was an easy leap for Josh as he navigates the online landscape looking for the best deals on wheels (and other bike parts). When he isn’t making an online launch inordinately successful or cycling the hills and trails of SoCal, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife and their two lovely children.
Jane Zhang – VP of Monetization
Jane Zhang – who bleeds cardinal and gold, the colors of her alma mater the University of Southern California – has 15-plus years of operations and product leadership roles in Internet and consulting, with eight of those years spent with Yahoo!. And despite her smaller stature, she is not one to be reckoned with. Not only is Sun Tzu’s treatise The Art of War her favorite 6th Century BC collection of military strategies but it’s also her single favorite book of all time! She obviously employs the text in her daily work (in a non-terrifying kind of way), illustrated by her savvy business strategy prowess – and her love of sports and competition.
Boasting a BS in Architecture from Southeast University, China; a Master’s in Urban Planning from her darling USC; and an MBA from UCLA, Jane was the prior Product Manager for Yahoo! Search Marketing Ad Systems; Director of International Customer and Content Solutions for Yahoo! Search Marketing International; Director of International Platforms/New Product Development; and Senior Director of Yahoo! Advertising Marketplaces Group.
Disenfranchised by her unsuccessful attempt to sell a Janet Jackson CD on eBay, Jane is excited to help, with her skills and experience in hand, "make recycler the first choice in classified advertising in the US and internationally; providing great service to small businesses and individual advertisers, helping sellers find the right buyer through effective ads, and ensuring that all ads on recycler.com are high quality and safe for families." Jane currently lives with her husband and son in Los Angeles.
Jean-Philippe Durrios – Director of Business Operations
Jean-Philippe Durrios – or JP for brevity’s (and pronunciation’s) sake – is recycler’s cultural one-man melting pot. The tech-savvy polyglot, who was raised in Africa, speaks English, German, French, Japanese, and some Korean. His extensive work experience took him all over the world, making multi-cultural waves in Europe, Asia, and North America. Former Senior Manager of Revenue Strategy for Spot Runner; Business Manager at Yahoo! Media; Manager of International Client Development at Yahoo! Search Marketing for global accounts including: eBay, Amazon and Expedia – Jean-Philippe has over 10 years of sales, product and operations leadership experience in online media. Needless to say (yet, here we go) Jean-Philippe understands the bigger picture of the online world market.
With an undergrad degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego and an MBA from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business, Jean-Philippe is committed to making "recycler the best advertising value for sellers of all sizes, and lead the industry with superior user experience, safety and ease for buyers to find whatever bargain they’re looking for."
Where most people could only dream of even surviving the Ironman Hawaii, the triathlon aficionado Jean-Philippe – or "Maestro" as we call him ‘round here – hopes to someday finish the rigorous swimming, biking and running event in a "decent time." Jean-Philippe, pizza chef and BBQ fanatic, currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, son and dog.
Jason Hays – Director of Channel Development
Jason Hays - sports fan, father, husband, and farceur – has offered his 20-plus years of experience directing sales and marketing efforts to TMPi and recycler. The humbly self-proclaimed "Rainmaker," Jason plans on bringing (single-handedly if you ask him) recycler into the metaphorical rain forest. And with his experience, know-how, and charm, he might just do it! With 5 years experience with TMP and a prior publisher of two TMP publications in the Bay area, Jason plans on nothing less than World Domination (of the Online Classified Market). Possessing an odd (though justified) infatuation with porcine Muppets – Miss Piggy is "hot" – Jason is very excited about "the community experience of the new recycler.com, bringing people together from all over the world."
The Seattle Mariners fan once dreamt of becoming a cowboy or spaceman (neither from which he is very far off, he just wears a different outfit) – eventually moving to Texas as a bold move towards that dream – but, after earning his BBA in Management and Marketing from Idaho State University, he fell into business and sales…and recycler has reaped the benefits ever since. Prior CEO/President of 3D Solutions; President of Innuity Interactive; and Director of Business Development Regional General and Partner Sales Manager for Nextel Communications and US West New Vectors, Jason is not only experienced to the teeth, but has owned a lot of different business cards. Jason currently lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife of 20 years, Margo, and three alliteratively-named daughters: Alix, Alicia and Abigail.
